In more recent work, Afaq Aziz () presents a comparative study of various languages of the Dardic group, with special reference to Kashmiri, Shina, and Kohistani. There is a continuous interest in the study of various linguistic and sociolinguistic aspects of Kashmiri. The tradition of presenting grammatical sketches and descriptions began in the mid of nineteenth century.
